The Preservation Trust of Spartanburg, Inc is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of historic Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Preservation Trust of Spartanburg, Inc. is to preserve historic structures in Spartanburg through rehabilitation, education and advocacy
Homeownership Programs
The Preservation Trust of Spartanburg's main objectives are to preserve historic Spartanburg and increase homeownership. These two goals go hand in hand with our restoration and sale of homes in Historic Hampton Heights. Our REACH Program targets first time homebuyers in a specified income bracket. Down payment and closing cost assistance are available for eligible buyers. Our RESTORE Program allows market rate buyers to find and customize a home. The Trust handles construction management and interim financing to make the process seamless and simple!
Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation Program
In effort to assist current homeowners in the Hampton Heights Historic District, the Preservation Trust has partnered with the South Carolina Housing Trust Fund to grant funding to income eligible homeowners for much needed home repairs. We are currently accepting applications for the 2008 funding cycle.
Education
Teaching youth and adults about the fabric of Spartanburg's past is so important. The Preservation Trust of Spartanburg is dedicated to educating the public about historic preservation, neighborhood redevelopment, and architecture. Our staff is available to hold seminars or speak at neighborhood or community meetings about the process of local historic designation. The Trust also offers walking tours of Historic Hamton Heights to adults and children.
Beautification Efforts
Every spring, summer, and fall, The Preservation Trust of Spartanburg holds monthly beautification days in Hampton Heights. These efforts combine camaraderie and cleaning to teach neighbors to have pride in their surroundings. Grassroots landscape efforts have followed, with the Carlisle Street "Spot of Pride" and historic lighting to link the neighborhood to downtown.

Help keep Spartanburg's architectural treasures out of the landfills by visiting Spartanburg Architectural Salvage. Currently open by appointment only at 307B West Main Street in Spartanburg, buyers can find doors, windows, bathroom fixtures, lighting, and more. Give your old architectural pieces new life! The Salvage store is gladly accepting tax deductible donations of items pre-dating 1950. |
